Rakastan Sylvia Plathin koko tuotantoa. Naputtelin paperille vanhalla kirjoituskoneella pätkän yhdestä lempirunostani ja jätin sanat siihen, koristamaan huonetta. Ostin edelliseltä Lontoon matkaltani käytettynä Sylvian runokokoelman "Ariel", jonka muutaman sivun reunaan edellinen omistaja oli raapustanut muistiinpanoja, analyyseja. Onko teissä Sylvia Plathin tuotantoon rakastuneita?

I love Sylvia Plath's works. I recently typed some lines from one of my favorite poems of hers "Poppies in October" and left the paper as a decoration on the vintage typewriter. I found a used copy of "Ariel" last time I was in London. The previous owner had made notes in the margins on a few pages of the book. Do any of you love Sylvia Plath's writing?

In The Room Where You Sleep

Viime viikon postaukset sisälsivät lähinnä elokuva-aiheisia juttuja, tällä viikolla on luvassa sisustusta. Makuuhuoneessani on paljon valkoisen ja ruskean eri sävyjä. Tuolin alla majailevat töppöset ovat minun ensimmäiset kenkäni. Tuolin päällä oleva "Siren"-printti on australialaisen kuvittajan Caitlin Shearerin kädenjälkeä, kultaisissa kehyksissä oleva puolestaan Alison Scarpullan. Alice in Wonderland -juliste löytyi Lontoon Sohosta ja on oikeasti lahjapaperiarkki. Mutta kuka muka raaskii käyttää tuollaista lahjan paketoimiseen?! Frenologiapää löytyi myös Lontoosta, Portobello Roadilta. Kevään tultua olen mieltynyt valkoisiin kukkiin, erityisesti herkkiin neilikoihin.

Last weeks posts were almost all about movies and this week it's time for interior decoration. The colours that dominate my bedroom are mostly different shades of white and brown. Those little white shoes under the wooden chair (my grandmothers) are my very first pair! The print in the white frames is "Siren" by Caitlin Shearer and the one in the golden frames by Alison Scarpulla. The Alice in Wonderland -poster is from a shop in Soho, London. It's actually wrapping paper but who on earth would use it as such!? I found the frenology head in London too. Since spring came I've taken a liking to white flowers, especially to carnations.

It Takes Your Mind Again

The Nationalin uusin biisi "Exile Vilify" on kaunis, hyvin kaunis. Mutta olisiko se mitään muuta voinut ollakaan. Ei. Biisi löytyy Portal 2-pelin soundtrackilta ja on julkaistu myös sinkkuna. Tämä on ollut tehokuuntelussa pari viikkoa Scandinavian Music Groupin uusimman albumin ohella. Vappuna kävin  muuten Rytmikorjaamolla SMG:n keikalla ja hyvä oli! Viime kerrasta olikin pitkä aika. Ruisrockissa pääsee kuulemaan molempia, niin Scandinavian Music Groupia kuin The Nationaliakin. Ihanaa!

The National's new single "Exile Vilify" is very beautiful. But then again, could it have been anything less. No. It's from the soundtrack of the game Portal 2 and also came out as a single. I've been listening to this and Scandinavian Music Group's newest album for two weeks now. Saw them at Rytmikorjaamo last weekend and it was a great gig. I'll see both bands, Scandinavian Music Group and The National this summer at Ruisrock festival. Great!

TORI AMOS SUOMEEN!! 

Ja kyllä, kirkaisin ääneen muutaman kerran innostuksesta, kun luin uutisen. Omalle keikalle, vihdoinkin. Paikkana tosin on Helsingin Jäähalli, joka tunnetusti ei ole akustiikaltaan kovinkaan kummoinen. Harmittavaa, että Kulttuuritalo on rempan alla. Päivämäärä tällä upealla illalla on keskiviikko 28. syyskuuta. Suomen keikka aloittaa marraskuun alkupuolelle kestävän Euroopan kiertueen, joten ehkä lomailen myöhemmin Wienissä tai Lontoossa tiettyyn aikaan.. Syyskuussa julkaistaan uusi albumi, joka kantaa nimeä "Night of Hunters". Tori Amos itse kuvailee tulevaa albumia näin: 

“It’s a 21st century song cycle inspired by classical music themes spanning over 400 years. I have used the structure of a song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself allowing the listener to follow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter. One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us.”

The above text is how Tori Amos describes her upcoming album released in September. And this time Tori finally comes to Finland to do her very own show in September! I screamed a little when I read the news. The European tour starts from Finland and the venue is a pretty sucky one but I don't even care about that at the moment. The tour supports her new album "Night of Hunters".
