BURN FOR YOU

En ymmärrä miksi minulla kesti näin hemmetin kauan katsoa elokuva nimeltä A Star Is Born (2018). Näin toki Bradley Cooperin ja Lady Gagan upean dueton Oscar-gaalassa ja kuulin elokuvasta paljon kehuja, mutta jostain syystä sen katsominen venähti. Virhe. Kyseessä on niin kokonaisvaltaisen upea ja raastava elokuva, että sanat eivät riitä sen ylistämiseen. Lopussa kyyneleet valuivat kuin vesiputous. Lady Gaga on roolissaan todella hyvä, mutta puhutaanpa hetki Bradley Cooperin roolisuorituksesta Jackson Mainena. Se on niin ilmiömäisen uskottava, että vielä pitkään elokuvan jälkeenkin kuvittelin katsoneeni dokumenttia oikeasta ihmisestä. Ja se jumalaisen matala ääni sekä hieman rähjäinen country-rockmuusikon habitus, olin täysin myyty! Olen kuunnellut Alibi-kappaleen varmaan sata kertaa muutaman päivän aikana enkä pääse yli siitä, miten täy-del-li-ses-ti Cooper tuon kyseisen alibi-sanan Jackson Maine -äänellään lausuu (Cooper madalsi ääntään roolia varten). Totaalinen eargasm. Elokuvan muutamasta Jackson Maine -biisistä inspiroituneena kokosin parituntisen soittolistan täyteen rakastamiani biisejä, jotka sopivat country/blues/rock -tunnelmaan. Olen nyt muutamana iltana fiilistellyt sitä ja tanssinut pimeässä sen tahtiin (kuuntelun voi jakaa kahteen osaan). Kaipuu hikisille livekeikoille on järjetön!

I honestly don't know why it took me so long to watch the movie A Star Is Born (2018). Yes, I saw Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's awesome performance at the Oscars and heard raving reviews about the movie and still. Thank God I finally watched it because it's so incredible and gut-wrenching that words fail me. In the end I cried like a child. Lady Gaga is dazzlingly good as Ally but Bradley Cooper, oh man.. His performance as Jackson Maine is so phenomenal and believable that I honestly felt like I was watching a documentary of a real person. And that deep voice, that slightly scruffy appearance of a country rock musician, I was sold! I've listened to the song "Alibi" like a hundred times these past few days and I'm obsessed by the way he pronounces the word "alibi" in that song. Total eargasm. I was so inspired by a few Jackson Maine -songs that I made a playlist with songs I love that have that country/blues/rock-vibe. For the last couple of nights I've been listening and dancing to it in the dark (it can be divided into two sections / different playlists). I'm yearning to go to a good, sweaty live gig!
